Brandon Heath released “The Ache,” his ninth studio album, offering listeners a heartfelt glimpse into his life and faith. Rooted in personal experiences, Heath’s latest work explores themes of grief and joy, inspired by his journey through the loss of his mother. The singer-songwriter reflects, “Every record I release is a snapshot of the season I’m in, and I thought this was going to be a record about mourning... But I’ve learned that two things can exist at the same time. You can talk about heavy things with a joyful spirit.”
This tension between grief and joy is woven throughout “The Ache.” Heath explains, “You can talk about heavy things with a joyful spirit, and I have totally embraced the paradox in this season.” Tracks like “Scars” and “The Other Side of the End” balance vulnerability and hope, while songs such as “Highly Favored” (featuring Ryan Ellis) and “Gospel Truth” showcase his faith’s guiding light through difficult times.
