The Salvation Poem Project is inviting viewers deeper into “Light of the World,” the new hand-drawn animated feature about the life of Jesus, with a just-released movie study. The film itself — created by veteran Disney animator Tom Bancroft and writer-director John J. Schafer — has already made a strong impression in theaters and online. Now, the companion study opens a path for more thoughtful engagement, especially for families and small groups.
Schafer says he wanted to create something that “points people back to the source,” while Bancroft adds, “We wanted to show who Jesus really is in a way that is beautiful and approachable, even for someone who’s never read the Bible.”
The study, built around key scenes from the film, offers discussion questions, Scripture readings and simple conversation prompts. It doesn’t over-explain or try to do too much. Instead, it lets the story breathe.
Like the film, the study avoids trying to be flashy. Its strength is in its simplicity — just a clear retelling of the gospel, paired with space to reflect. It’s a natural next step for anyone moved by the movie and looking to sit with the story a little longer.
