Tauren Wells

Tauren Wells’ new album grew out of a season when the singer and pastor was learning to slow down. After launching Church of Whitestone with his wife, Lorna, in 2024, he realized that working for God had often crowded out simply spending time with him. That desire for God’s presence helped shape “Here Comes the Church,” released October 2.

Recorded before a sold-out crowd at Austin’s Moody Theater, Wells’ first live worship album revisits songs from “Breathe On It” with new arrangements. Its 14-song set brings together artists including Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Naomi Raine, Tiffany Hudson and Hulvey, drawing voices from gospel, worship and hip-hop into the same room.

Hudson joins Wells on the title track, while Raine appears on “What a Miracle Feels Like.” The recording also preserves moments when the musicians stopped playing and the audience kept worshiping, making the congregation part of what listeners hear.

For Wells, the project carries a hope for people whose confidence in the church has been shaken by its failures. “My heart really is that the beauty of the Church would be restored in the eyes of the people,” he told The Christian Post. He hopes these songs help listeners reconnect with a spiritual family.
