Brandon Lake’s latest album, “King of Hearts,” shifts away from big declarations toward something more grounded. Across 14 tracks, Lake wrestles with doubt, identity and quiet restoration, while keeping his worship roots intact.

The project features co-writes and guest appearances — most notably a deluxe-edition duet with country star Gabby Barrett on “As for Me and My Home.” Lake balances vulnerable moments like “Tear Off the Roof” and “Miracle Child” with high-energy praise tracks such as “Praise You Anywhere.”

While it explores spiritual themes, the album also reflects on family, personal recovery and letting go of public personas. “I’m not the king of my own life,” Lake says. “The only way for me to heal, to have freedom and joy and real peace, is to let Jesus be King of my heart.”

His touring this year with artists like Phil Wickham and Jelly Roll echoes the album’s wide emotional and stylistic range. “King of Hearts” doesn’t posture or push — it reflects where Lake is now. It’s still worship, just more human.
