David and Maria Henrie

David Henrie is adding another chapter to his career — this time as a children’s author. The “Wizards of Waverly Place” actor and his wife, Maria Henrie, have released their first picture book, “Is God Bigger Than a Dragon?,” through Ascension. Written for young readers, the story follows a child asking honest questions about God, using a dragon as a playful way to explore God’s greatness, love and presence.

The Henries said the book grew out of conversations in their own home as they looked for simple ways to talk about faith with their children. Rather than offering complicated answers, the story encourages curiosity and reminds kids that no question is too big to bring to God.

“We wanted to create a book that helps children encounter God in a way that feels approachable, joyful and true,” David and Maria shared. “Our hope is that families will read it together and have meaningful conversations about faith.”

Illustrated with bright, engaging artwork, “Is God Bigger Than a Dragon?” is aimed at families with young children, but its message is just as much for parents, encouraging them to slow down and make room for everyday conversations about faith. It’s a gentle reminder that some of the most lasting spiritual lessons often begin with a child’s simple question.
