DOE Brings Faith and Family Together on ‘Shiloh’

DOE is leaning into family, legacy and the sound of the church on her new album, “Shiloh,” released Aug. 28 through Provident Entertainment/Sony Music.

The live project follows her Grammy-winning 2024 album, “Heart of a Human,” but shifts the focus outward. Inspired in part by her young son, Shiloh, the album centers on passing faith from one generation to the next, with Psalm 22 serving as a key biblical foundation. “Psalm 22 really became the foundation for this project, especially the word ‘posterity,’” DOE said.

That generational theme shows up in the music itself. DOE’s family joins the choir, while her mother, Kim Jones, sings with her on “Mighty Long Way.” Other guests include Israel Houghton on the title track, Lizzie Morgan on “He Is King” and Joe L Barnes on “To You.”

Musically, “Shiloh” moves comfortably between gospel, contemporary worship and R&B, often carrying the loose, communal feel of a church service. Songs such as “Know Your Name,” “High Praise” and “You Will Have It All” circle around God’s faithfulness, surrender and the importance of telling the next generation what he has done.

For DOE, the album feels less like a solo statement and more like a family testimony set to music.
