Jordan Smith, winner of “The Voice” Season 9, marks ten years since his breakthrough with “The People’s Hymnal,” a fresh take on gospel standards. The album reimagines classic hymns like “Oh Happy Day” and “How Great Thou Art,” blending sacred tradition with contemporary artistry. Smith, known for his powerhouse vocals, leans fully into the gospel roots that shaped him, delivering a project that feels both personal and timeless.

“This record is for me, and you can hear the freedom and joy in it,” Smith shares. He approached the album with a mindset free from industry expectations, focusing purely on heartfelt interpretation. Co-produced by Tommy Sims and Colin Linden, the project bridges gospel, soul and pop influences, creating a sound that’s both reverent and fresh.

Growing up singing in his church choir in Harlan, Kentucky, Smith credits those early experiences with shaping his passion for music. “The People’s Hymnal” serves as both a reflection of his journey and a tribute to the songs that have carried generations of believers.
