Carl MJ Anderson as Joshua in ‘JOSHUA — LIVE!’
Sight & Sound Theatres is bringing another biblical story to movie theaters with JOSHUA — Live!, a filmed version of its stage production that opened in theaters on October 30.
The musical follows Joshua as he helps lead the Israelites out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land. Beginning with the parting of the Red Sea and continuing through the fall of Jericho, the story explores what it means to trust God when the path ahead is uncertain.
Directed by Ryan Miller, the film captures a live performance at Sight & Sound’s Lancaster, Pennsylvania, theater. The production features music, large-scale sets, special effects and a cast led by Carl MJ Anderson as Joshua and Hope Klessig as Rahab.
For Miller, Rahab’s story became an important part of the production, highlighting God’s mercy alongside the Israelites’ struggles with faith and obedience.
In an interview with The Collision, Miller explained what he hopes audiences consider after watching: “Am I trusting the Lord with all parts of my life?”
The film gives viewers who can’t attend a performance in person an opportunity to experience Sight & Sound’s storytelling on the big screen, while reflecting on Joshua’s journey from uncertainty to faith.
