Stephanie Rousselle

In her debut book, “Awaken Delight: Satisfying Your Soul’s Longing for God,” Stephanie Rousselle considers what it actually means to enjoy God — not as a passing emotion, but as a steady way of living.

Published by IVP, the book is rooted in Psalm 37:4 and written for Christians who feel spiritually tired, distracted or caught in a cycle of striving. Rousselle combines biblical theology with practical spiritual rhythms, showing how delight in God can shape identity, deepen trust and help believers face suffering without pretending life is easy.

Her French background also gives the theme an interesting layer. The French word délice can describe both delight and deliciousness, connecting naturally with Scripture’s invitation to “taste and see” God’s goodness.

“When we aim to make God our delight, that means we aim to taste his deliciousness, spiritually speaking,” Rousselle says. “The presence of God is flavorful, the love of God is intoxicating, [and] the glory of God is enthralling.”

Rather than adding another task to a crowded spiritual routine, “Awaken Delight” reframes prayer, Scripture and worship as places to encounter God. Rousselle’s central idea is simple: lasting delight begins not with greater effort, but with receiving God’s delight in us.
