Leanna Crawford’s second album, “Thank God,” looks back on disappointment, unanswered prayer and closed doors with a steadier perspective. Released July 24, the 11-song collection trades some of the polished pop sound of “Still Waters” for warm folk, acoustic and country touches.

The album’s songs come from personal questions rather than easy answers. “Ask Him Again” grew from a season when Crawford kept praying without seeing a response. “Living Room Floor” considers the pressure to earn God’s love through busyness, while “Her” addresses comparison without tearing another woman down. “Revenge” takes a different approach to being wronged, presenting forgiveness as a better response than retaliation.

Those themes come together in the title track, where Crawford expresses gratitude not only for what worked out, but also for the plans that did not.

“I’m thankful for all the times that he said ‘no,’ because I know he doesn’t waste anything — even if it doesn’t always make sense to me,” Crawford said. “I know his plan is so much better than mine.”

“Thank God” is reflective and grounded, offering songs for listeners still learning to trust God while they wait.
