Characters ‘David’ and ‘Noah’ in ‘Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul’

More than two decades after releasing their first feature film, brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick are returning to where it all began with “Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul,” a Brazilian remake of their 2003 movie.

Directed by Alessandro Barros and written by Alex Kendrick, the film follows Noah Silva (Mario Bregieira), a used-car salesman whose dishonest business practices begin taking a toll on his family and career. As his life starts falling apart, Noah must confront his choices, rebuild his integrity and work to restore his relationships with his wife (Pérola Faria) and son.

Filmed in Rio de Janeiro with a Brazilian cast, the remake updates the original story for a new audience. The project also marks a collaboration between the Kendrick brothers and Brazilian filmmakers, following the success of their previous films in the country.

“I think the message is relevant for any culture and any generation,” Stephen Kendrick told the Albany Herald.

Known for faith-based films including “War Room,” “Courageous” and “The Forge,” the brothers hope the remake encourages viewers to consider how their everyday decisions affect those around them.

“Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul” opened in U.S. theaters on October 16, with English-dubbed and subtitled versions available.
